Day 1: Chora, Kastro and Panagia at the right light
Use the first day to anchor the island emotionally. Chora and Panagia do more for the trip than trying to squeeze in an extra beach.
Folegandros works when you give equal value to Chora, elevation, and one clear sea day. The island’s official anchors suggest a simple 2-3 day structure: one village-and-view day, one cove-and-harbor day, and one Ano Meria or trail-led extension if you have the time.
Use the first day to anchor the island emotionally. Chora and Panagia do more for the trip than trying to squeeze in an extra beach.
Let the second day start lower and closer to the sea. Karavostasis is easier; Agali gives a more scenic beach-led route.
Once you are already on the beach side, keep the day coherent. One stronger cove extension beats jumping between unrelated stops.
If you have the extra time, move inland and westward. Ano Meria, rural texture and the trail logic make the island feel bigger and richer.
If you only have two nights, skip the more ambitious hike before you sacrifice a Chora evening.
The best Folegandros itinerary leaves you with enough energy for the cliff at dusk.
